The FL!P Challenge is a design initiative organised by the Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC) to encourage local arts and design students to think out of the box and fashion furniture from a novel and unconventional perspective.

The competition underscores the Council’s continuous push to make Singapore a furniture hub known for its design excellence.

FL!P, which stands for Furniture· Lifestyle· Innovations· Perspectives, task participants to innovate, design and construct original pieces of furniture, that encompass both design and functionality, out of existing furniture or raw materials provided for the competition. This is akin to the real world where professional designers often work within parameters set by material constrains and market requirements.

Annually, the finalists’ works are exhibited at the International Furniture Fair Singapore / ASEAN Furniture Show (IFFS/AFS) from 9 to 12 March at the Singapore Expo.
