Date Change Announced for Asia's Most Prestigious Furniture Trade Show

SINGAPORE, 29 June 2007 – International Furniture Fair Singapore (IFFS) Pte Ltd, organiser of the annual International Furniture Fair Singapore/ASEAN Furniture Show (IFFS/AFS), has announced a change in dates and format for IFFS/AFS 2008. Traditionally held from 1 to 5 March, IFFS/AFS 2008 will now be held over four days from 9 to 12 March 2008. The new dates will facilitate travel arrangements for industry players who wish to attend various shows in Asia.

Mr Quek Chin Tuan, Chief Executive Officer of IFFS Pte Ltd, said: “We have done extensive research and thought long and hard before coming to a firm conclusion that this is the right move in the evolution of IFFS/AFS. We know that most buyers visit several shows in Asia and the duration of their Asian sourcing trip can be quite lengthy due to the gaps in between the Asian furniture show calendar. With the new dates, we have taken advantage of these gaps and buyers will find their sourcing trip to IFFS/AFS and other major shows in Asia significantly shortened. Thus, the date change will enable buyers to save precious time and money without sacrificing the results of their Asian sourcing trip. For example, in March 2008, buyers can visit IFFS/AFS and the southern China furniture shows in just two weeks, as opposed to more than three weeks with our original show dates.”

“Besides moving the dates, we have also changed the format of the show. In the past, the show was held over five days, with the afternoon of the fifth day opened to the public. IFFS/AFS 2008 will now take place over four days and the show hours will be lengthened on the last day. The public will therefore be able to visit the show from 5pm to 9pm on 12 March 2008. I’m sure exhibitors will find the four-day show far more efficient,“ added Mr Quek.

IFFS/AFS 2008 will occupy 70,000 square metres spread over seven halls at the Singapore Expo, thus making the show the biggest in the show’s 25-year history. To date, more than 30,000 nett square metres have already been booked for IFFS/AFS 2008, promising visitors a wider range of quality furniture and furnishing products.
